Google engineers are really in troubles these days. I first time faced a lot of issues with Google services and Blogger. Few days back, we saw one of Google’s major serviceFeedburner (email subscribers) status went to 0 on all websites. That affected many bloggers but; we read a statement from feedburner team saying: “we are trying to fix the issue sooner”. And They resolved that issue in approximately 8 days. After that, Blogger custom domain feature was not working for almost a week and when finally Blogger engineers recovered the custom domain; the another issue has arisen.
The recent issue in Blogger is custom domain feature where it’s naked domain redirection option is not working for last 3 days. And there is no official statement from Google or blogger about this issue. In custom domain feature, the check box is not get checked which redirects your domain’s non-WWW visitor to www. For instance, if I enter onlineustaad.wordpress.com on browser’s address bar then Blogger used to redirect the visitor to www.onlineustaad.wordpress.com, but now this option is not working and visitors are facing a 404 error which indicates to no found page error. here is the screen shoot of the check box which isn’t working.

If you tick the check box and save it says: changes have successfully been done, but after a moment if you look it back then it get unchecked itself. Therefore, the domain won’t be redirected to www naked redirection.

Is it a big issue for my blog?

As far as I know yes, because many of our visitors are newbies and they don’t know these things. They just enter the URL and want to access the site as quickly as possible. So, if they faced a 404 error, they wouldn’t stay longer to find the other ways.

In SEO prospective, it is essential that you keep your domain redirection etc 100% clean. Because search engines are sending you visitors as on regular bases and many of your visitors may face these issues on your blog pages, so it can really affect our blog’s SEO.

I guess, blogger team will resolve the issue sooner, but for the moment we can just hope for. I’ve tried to resolve the issue myself, but I didn’t succeed.
